Hornsea Potteries are a great British design story involving some of the giants of British pattern and ceramic design. Magpie have collaborated with the vintage pottery brand to recreate pieces, hand-moulding and hand-glazing them.

Based on the original 1975 Poison mug series designed by John Clappison, this new jar is designed in keeping with the Victorian Apothecary aesthetic. Note the one little poisonous 'flower' on the top right of the design, kept as a cute style punctuation.

Store anything! Use for coffee, sugar, candy, cotton balls, jewellery, decant your jams and jellys, the list is endless! These new designs are in cobalt blue glazed stoneware with real gold plating. The range is individually gift boxed in matching gold foiled and cobalt printed boxes.

Hornsea Potteries was founded in 1949 by brothers Colin and Desmond Rawson.
This quintessentially British brand made ground breaking designs all through the following decades until its final closure in 2000. The Hornsea legacy remains an important inspiration to many illustrators and artists today. With full access to the archives at the Hornsea Museum, this is the first range of products re-designed and released under official licence by Magpie.
